Thank you for visiting Shepherd of the Hills’ website! We hope it provides insight into our family of faith. We’d love to welcome you to worship or another church event, and you’re welcome to contact the church or pastors with any questions you have.
All are welcome at Shepherd, where our mission is to love God and love neighbor in the spirit of Jesus. Our congregation is made up of members of all ages and various backgrounds.
Shepherd is an open, welcoming Lutheran church. Our first instinct is to offer a welcome to all people, and all people will find a welcome here. A few of our other core values: We believe that love, not doctrine, is at the center of it all. We take the Bible seriously, but we don’t take it literally. Although we are deeply rooted in the Lutheran expression of the Christian faith, we appreciate the wisdom of other traditions. And we believe that caring for our neighbors is central to being a follower of Jesus.
We welcome members and visitors to worship as they are. All are welcome for Holy Communion; you don’t have to be a member and you don’t have to be Lutheran. As we take bread and wine, we remember that life is a gift from God and we are nourished by God’s love just as we’re nourished by food. Children are always welcome in worship, but families are also invited to take advantage of our staffed nursery. After the children’s message during worship, kids are invited to accompany one of our pastors to the narthex for a special learning time.
New member class:
Interested in learning more about Shepherd or joining our church family? Periodically, we offer a brief new member class that provides an opportunity learn about the mission and ministry of the church. Pastors Scott and Joanna provide an overview of life at Shepherd and the many ways to get involved, and those who want to join will be connected with and welcomed by a current member family. Watch the bulletin, welcome desk, and/or events calendar to learn when the next class is—or e-mail email@example.com to indicate your interest in joining our church family.
