Dear Friends at SOTH:
Our church council is launching a new strategic planning process we are calling an “Engagement Appeal.” The goal of our appeal is to create a connected family of faith through listening sessions that will culminate in a new strategic plan with broad-based input and support. You and your family are essential to the success of this process.
There are three phases to our Engagement Appeal:
- The first is already underway. Our staff has prayerfully envisioned their work over the next three to five years in a written report to the council.
- The second phase begins now. Each church council member will be hosting listening sessions to hear from you. They want to learn how your family will grow and change over the next three to five years and what ministries and faith support your family will need over that time.
- The final phase is interviews conducted by staff and council members with community leaders from the city, schools, non-profits, civic groups and local businesses seeking to learn their three to five year goals and how we as a family of faith might support their work.
The notes from our listening sessions will be compiled into a document in August to be reviewed by the church council. The council and ministry teams will use the document to work September through December of this year creating a strategic plan to be presented at our January 2018 annual meeting. Along the way in October and November, the council will host draft presentations of goals for additional congregational feedback.
Your council looks forward to hearing from you about your family’s future faith needs! There will be multiple opportunities to participate in the Engagement Appeal process. Watch for invitations and opportunities during the months of June and July.
Please begin to prayerfully ponder the question: How will your family grow and change over the next three to five years, what ministries and faith support will your family need over that time?
