I’m sure I have said this every year, but I cannot believe we are at the end of the school year already. This year has gone by so quickly and I am so grateful for so many wonderful things that have happened this year.
I want to begin by giving thanks to God for the service of Angie Raney and Greta Edmundson. They have helped in all aspects of our Children’s Ministry for the past several years. It is not hyperbole when I say that we could not have done it without them. We are both excited to share in the joy of their new adventures onto college and saddened that they will no longer be with us.
I am also so grateful for everyone who participated and volunteered in any way. It really has been a wonderful year, filled with the meaningful presence of all our volunteers. From VBS to Kids’ Time, everyone plays an incredibly important role in the faith life of our kids. Thanks be to God!
With the end of the school year brings lots of excitement. At Shepherd, we are looking forward to our WAM End of the Year party. This year, our theme will be Game Night. Families are invited to come and join in on the fun on Wednesday, May 9 at 6:30pm. More information will be spread once it becomes available. We are also excited to share in some special fellowship time with our preschoolers during our final Preschool Connection of this year on Sunday, May 13.
We are, of course, looking forward to VBS. This year’s theme is Shipwrecked: Rescued by Jesus. VBS will be in the mornings of June 25-29. Registration forms are available on our website at sothchurch.com/learn/vbs.
Finally, on a personal note, I am very excited to begin working at Shepherd full-time come June. This month marks the end of my final full-academic semester at Luther Seminary. I will be beginning my internship in June and will be graduating from Luther in December. After classes are over this month, I will be taking some time to be with family and friends. Then, I will come back and be ready to dedicate more time and energy into the great things that are happening in our family of faith and the great things that are to come. I am so excited and so incredibly grateful!
Thanks be to God for another wonderful year of learning and fellowship for our kids. Every year it is made abundantly clear that this place is one where kids can come to be themselves together and to be loved by all.
May God’s peace be with you and God’s joy overcome you during this season of transition from school time to summer time.
