Lectionary Passages

At Shepherd of the Hills, we use the Narrative Lectionary for our Sunday morning scripture. The Narrative Lectionary is a four-year cycle of readings for use in worship and preaching.  The goal is to preach annually through the biblical narrative so that the lives of believers might be centered in God's story.

In the fall of 2017 we will read through the Old Testament stories beginning with creation. We will hear the stories of Abraham, Jacob and Moses.

In December we will celebrate Christmas and we will do so by turning to the Gospel of Luke. We will beginning by hearing the announcement of Jesus birth.

After Christmas, we will begin the Gospel of John and read straight through. We hope you will join us in reading the Gospel and following along with sermons on Sunday mornings.

Once we have completed our tour of John's Gospel, in April we will read a few stories from the book of Acts and then briefly study the book of Philippians. All of our readings are listed below.  Sermons can be found on our website to listen if you happen to miss a few weekends.
