The Quilters at SOTH
We are a group of women that gather together to make serviceable quilts. The quilts are donated to various community organizations that assist persons that are struggling with challenges such as housing, poverty, and health concerns.
When do we meet? Tuesday mornings in Ranum Hall from 9:00am until 11:00am. Come and visit.
Who can participate? We welcome people that would like to sew and put quilts together. Sewing is usually done at home.
Do you need to know how to sew? No, you do not need to sew! The quilt layers are "tied" together at SOTH. This does not require sewing skills. The quilts can even be tied at home.
What organizations do you support? We have shared our quilts with: Reach and Restore, Move Forward at Hopkins High School, Marie Sandvik Center, and Sojourners. We also support Southdale, Fairview, and Park Nicolett Hospitals. In general, we make baby quilts, as well as those for adult which fit a full sized bed. If you know of a person or organization that may like to receive our quilts, please let us know!
Who should I talk to if I have questions? Donna Ahrndt, Ellen Levernier, Geraine Morseth, Sally Nash, Sharon Peterson and Karen Vevle.
If I don't want to work on quilts, are there materials I could donate? YES, YES, YES! If you are redecorating your bedroom, think of us when changing out your sheets. We often use sheets for the bottom layer of quilts. If you sew and are cleaning out your fabrics, we are happy to receive cottons, blends, and flannels. We cannot use fabrics such as those used for upholstery, fancy dress fabrics like brocades, dry clean only fabrics or materials used for coats, suits, and rainwear.
